Would you recognize a Seth Master if you met one? Would they be fabulously wealthy? Perfectly healthy? If they were a vet would they heal sick puppies by just passing their hands over them? This is a very interesting question and the answer reveals a lot about what we think Seth's ideas mean. To my knowledge, no one's taken a swing at this except Richard Bach in his novel Illusions.
When most of us first encounter "you create your reality" we think that, if we can just figure it out, we'll become what James Carse called a "Master Player" in his book, Finite and Infinite Games. It's the possibility of absolute control and absolute predictability. But, is that what YCYR promises? How would that work in a world where spontaneity always operates and time is basically meaningless? Would a Seth Master always be happy and problem free or is sadness, longing, anger and all the other staples of human life part of the good of the world?
This is a question well worth thinking about. After you get over the initial notion of absolute control watch what happens next. My guess is you'll end up at something like, "Well, of course I'll always have problems, just not these problems." Really? It's fascinating that we almost always think that our current problems aren't the best or appropriate problems for us to have.
I'm sure you get the drift of this by now. Happy cogitating!

ReplyDeleteYes to the happy part and no to the problem free part. I believe that once one has a sufficient (intellectual and emotional) grasp of the Seth Material, that he/she has mastered the ability to be aware of their happiness. We are all happy, but most do not recognize it and/or adequately understand what it is. Having problems and longing for something new are necessary for human growth. Time is the medium for resolving problems and happiness awareness is the key towards achieving the patience required to wait for the most beneficial probability to emerge.

Perhaps the awareness that un-conscious suffering is wasteful; and, that conscious suffering leads to something very fruitful...is well enabled by Seth's call to awaken.

Assuming a Seth master is a likeness of Seth: Seth is an emotional being just as we are so he would experience the range of emotions. He would not deny sadness for example. He would easily identify these emotions and not make a judgment about them. I think this can be an issue of denial for some people who see some emotions as negative and therefore find them fearful and unwanted. (Actually, I think sadness can serve a purpose –it can point one in the direction he needs to look). To deny an emotion would be to deny ourselves. We love drama. We love tension –that’s why artful mediums sale. Think of the last bestseller you loved.
ReplyDeleteThat said. I think a Seth Master would not hide from himself...unless he wanted to. I wonder if we would yearn for certain lessons already learned like a longing for youthful fancies. I imagine he might get lost and forget himself for a while and need to reawaken.
I haven’t actually read all there is on Seth (blush). I just started. In fact, I’m maybe less than a week deep into the material so I apologize if I offend anyone with my responses. I’ve only gotten maybe a little over half through three different books and. love. I wish I could read and absorb faster.
I would relish having an energy personality in my physical living room to answer all my questions, as they arise. Swoon.
Love to you and yours.
